We want to offer a word of explanation about our webpage on Liturgical Formation. In June of 2022, Pope Francis wrote an Apostolic Letter to the entire Church calling for “a serious and vital liturgical formation.” We have put together some resources on the Liturgy drawn from the teachings of the Magisterium of the Church in order to provide some helpful information surrounding the liturgical reforms of the Second Vatican Council. Part I treats of the historical background of the "Liturgical Movement" and the liturgical reforms of the Popes through the century prior to Vatican II; Part II treats of the Conciliar Constitution Sacrosanctum Concilium and the post-Conciliar documents implementing the reform of the Liturgy; Part III treats of the aftermath of the implementation and the efforts of the Papal Magisterium to clarify and correct erroneous interpretations of the Council's reforms. along with a number of Magisterial documents concerning the Sacred Liturgy.
It is our hope that this modest effort of Formation in the Sacred Liturgy will be both inspiring and truly formative. It is our prayer that the members of the Church will come to a deeper understanding and a united appreciation of the liturgical renewal of the Second Vatican Council.
